NANAIMO, BC – Paul Manly, MP for Nanaimo-Ladysmith, is endorsing Sonia Furstenau, MLA for Cowichan Valley, for B.C. Green Party leader.
“Sonia is a thoughtful, compassionate leader who has bold ideas for how to build a more equitable and sustainable province,” said Manly.
“I have worked with Sonia for many years on issues like watershed protection. I know she will work as hard for all British Columbians as she has for her own community in the Cowichan Valley. Now is the time for the kinds of big, evidence-based ideas that will make B.C. stronger, safer and more equitable. Sonia has the leadership skills required to build a more diverse, inclusive Party that will appeal widely to British Columbians.”
Furstenau welcomed Manly’s endorsement.
“I am honoured to have Paul’s endorsement for my leadership. In his breakthrough by-election win last year, Paul built an exemplary grassroots campaign based on a hopeful vision for his community’s future. In Parliament, he is a much-needed strong, principled voice on the most pressing issues facing Canadians like climate change and affordable housing. I am delighted to have his support as I move forward with my campaign and with building the next generation of the B.C. Green Party.”
