The Chamber, together with the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) and Valley Carpet One, will be hosting a prerecorded Candidates Forum ahead of the Provincial Election.
The Forum, which will be filmed at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre by Allen Felker of VITV, will be available for viewing on the Chamber’s YouTube and Facebook Pages on Wednesday, October 14th, two days prior to the opening of advance polls.
To ensure public safety and limit the spread of COVID-19, the Forum will NOT be open to public attendance.
As in previous years, questions will be categorized based on (but not limited to) the following topics: child care; climate change; education; housing and homelessness; indigenous matters; jobs and skills shortage; seniors; small business; taxes; transportation, and; health care and social services. Similar or duplicate questions will be consolidated to ensure a broad range of topics are addressed without unnecessary repetition. Those who submit a question are asked to confirm whether they wish to remain anonymous or are comfortable being named in conjunction with their question.
Participating in the Candidates Forum and representing Cowichan Valley Riding are: Rob Douglas, BC NDP; Sonia Furstenau, Greens of British Columbia, and Tanya Kaul, BC Liberals. Seasoned moderator, Wade Simmons of Amber Education, returns to marshal proceedings, ensuring equal opportunities to hear from each of the candidates.
